Common FAQ The questions that don't apply to a particular board Sales When will this keyboard go on sale? For an active project or one in preparation, this is written in the product page, IC/GB thread, or similar specific to the product. Please check such sources. If the group buy has occurred in the past and is already completed, the board will not go on sale again unless there is another round of sales. If the ETA is not written or marked TBA, there is no known time when the board will go on sale. When is the ETA for this project going on sale? → When will this keyboard go on sale? When will this project happen? → When will this keyboard go on sale? Can I buy your prototypes? No; the prototypes are usually kept for future research purposes. Will there be another round or batch of this? Not unless otherwise stated.   Will there be extras for this? If the project is a group buy, usually there is a margin ordered for replacement parts and B-stock units. If any are left following GB conclusion and replacements, they will be placed on sale as extras. However, this is not guaranteed whatsoever, and there are many cases where there are no extra units left. The best option is to expect no extras, but also to obtain the role for the project at my Discord server to receive a notification if they appear.   If the project is an in-stock sale, usually there are no extras. Can I purchase your extra units? → Will there be extras for this? By chance, do you have any extra units for this? → Will there be extras for this? When will the next round of this go on sale? → When will this keyboard go on sale? → Will there be another round or batch of this? Will there be a re-run of this in the future? → When will this keyboard go on sale? → Will there be another round or batch of this? Will this be available in another color? Not unless otherwise stated. You are free to purchase and refinish a keyboard in another color using re-anodizing or cerakoting services; however, I will not take any responsibility if it fails. When is the ETA of shipment for this? For anything pre-sale or IC stage: I don't know. For anything in the group buy phase: Usually such info is listed on the product page or GB page. For anything in-stock: Usually such info is listed on the product page or GB page.   For anything already sold: Please check the project status page on the website. ETAs may change as production progresses or as global situation changes. The project does not seem like it will ship by the ETA, or has passed the ETA. Can you take responsibility? No.  An ETA is an Estimated Time of Arrival; as per its name; it is only an estimate or guess as a rough reference which is heavily influenced by global and human factors. As such, no ETA is a guarantee. Is shipment before/around the ETA guaranteed? No. An ETA is an Estimated Time of Arrival; as per its name; it is only an estimate or guess as a rough reference which is heavily influenced by global and human factors.  The project may ship earlier or later than the ETA as the situation changes. Can I change my order details such as case type, color, etc. after placing the order? No. If group buy: The order details are used to manufacture the exact amount and type of boards to fulfill the orders.  If in-stock: The product is likely already shipped. What will the sale format be for this board with unannounced sales format? The sales format for any board with unannounced sales format is unannounced. It will likely be announced at a later date. Can I buy a keyboard which is out of stock? Assume that it is possible to purchase a physical product which is out of stock. Define P as the set of all physical copies of a product p located in stock at a vendor, and define p as a physical non-null copy of product p which belong to P. For a purchase to happen and be carried through with, a physical product unit p must be shipped from a vendor to the buyer, meaning p must be sourced from P and removed from P. By the definition of out of stock, P must be the null set. This forms a contradiction to the initial assumption: to purchase a physical product which is out of stock, there must be p sourced from and removed from a null set, which is not possible. Thus by proof by contradiction and the concept of excluded middle, it is impossible to purchase a product which is out of stock. Since the set of sold physical keyboards K is a subset of set of physical products P, this proof applies to purchasing a keyboard which is out of stock; therefore, it is not possible to purchase a keyboard which is out of stock. Where can I buy your keyboards? My keyboards are sold through various keyboard vendors, using the sale format best suited for the board. Such information is usually clearly denoted within an IC/GB thread, product listing page, or the official Discord server. If a product is either currently available as an open group buy purchase, or is available in-stock, it is possible to purchase the product. Otherwise it is impossible to purchase. No; if an option to support another switch is not sold as an official variant or addon kit, the board likely has some constraint (USB position, physical dimension conflict, etc.) which renders it incompatible with another. Will this Alps-specific keyboard support MX switches? No; if an option to support another switch is not sold as an official variant or addon kit, the board likely has some constraint (USB position, physical dimension conflict, etc.) which renders it incompatible with another. Will you add per-key RGB to this? Unless clearly stated otherwise, no. I'm not a fan of RGB to begin with, so I cannot motivate myself enough to carry through with a per-key RGB board. Will this be available in another material? Not unless otherwise stated. Usually each project is designed specifically for a certain material, and either costs too much to produce or is too structurally fragile with another. Will there be a polycarbonate version of this case? → Will this be available in another material? Can I swap part of this keyboard with another? Not unless clearly noted otherwise. I design each keyboard so that they work ideally with the original set of parts. The shape and structure of each part may differ significantly compared to other boards; I do not guarantee compatibility with anything else unless stated otherwise. Can I install a third party PCB into this keyboard? → Can I swap part of this keyboard with another? Can I install hotswap sockets/Mill-Max sockets/Holtites into this keyboard PCB? I do not support this whatsoever, for each PCB is designed specifically to support their intended use only.  If doing so, it will be completely at your own risk; I will not take any responsibility whatsoever if it fails, nor will I refund or replace parts for you. Are your keyboards waterproof? No. Will this board be available with another type of USB connector? No. Both the PCB and case are designed around a specific connector. Will the color(s) be exactly what is described? No. The color of coatings such as anodizing and e-coat can vary significantly due to dye mixtures, part size, environment, and material batch. Thus it is impossible to guarantee an exact color of any sort. Will this color be matched exactly to this keyset? → Will the color(s) be exactly what is described? Will the colors be identical to a previous batch or round? No. The color of coatings such as anodizing and e-coat can vary significantly due to dye mixtures, environment, and material batch. Thus it is impossible to match perfectly to a previous batch, even if the board is identical in dimensions. Will the colors be identical to another board? No. The color of coatings such as anodizing and e-coat can vary significantly due to dye mixtures, environment, object size, and material batch. Thus it is impossible to match perfectly to another board. Are your keyboards rated for use under extreme conditions? No; they are only designed for reasonable indoor use. I will make no guarantee for use in harsh conditions, such as extreme temperatures, shock and vibrations, particle or liquid ingress, etc. Information Will you film a typing test for this? No. Three reasons: Sound varies significantly depending on parts, environment, desk material, etc. My personal builds tend to sound miserable. I do not have proper recording equipment capable of making it happen. Could you tell me what factory you use to produce your cases? No; such information is usually kept confidential. Commissions and Custom Orders Do you take commissions for PCBs, plates, or individual parts? No.  I design holistically so all parts perform ideally together; this cannot be done with partial commissions. In addition, I am usually too busy to take on commissions. Can I commission you for a custom keyboard design? 99.9% of the time, no. The only exceptions are for large scale requests, such as a function-specific keyboard for a specific use case, or customized orders for the employees of a company. For such requests, please contact ai03 via Discord (join the Discord server here, then send a direct message to ai03#2725) or via email ( admin@ai03.com ). Can I order a one-off keyboard with custom color or engravings? 99.9% of the time, no. The only exceptions are for custom variants of existing cases with differing engravings or colors which will be used for spreading publicity of the custom keyboard community; for this to hold true, the commissioner must have significant publicity with a positive reputation. For such requests, please contact ai03 via Discord (join the Discord server here , then send a direct message to ai03#2725) or via email ( admin@ai03.com ). Non-Keyboard Questions What is the best way of contacting you directly? The best method is Discord; I am very active on the platform and will be able to respond the fastest. To send me a direct message, first join my Discord server , then send a direct message to ai03#2725. The second best option is email at admin@ai03.com, although I may be very slow to respond. The least recommended options are through Twitter and Instagram ; it may be months before I notice that I have a pending message.
